Question
Please let me know how to change the listen port number when connecting to remote.it.
Answer
There are two ways to change the listen port number.
A. Specify the listen port number in the registration information on the target side (connection destination). (Can be performed only by the owner)
B. Change the listen port number in the connection information on the initiator side (connection source).
Under normal circumstances, if a user specifies a port number, use Method "B".
Procedure
-
Select the relevant existing connection on the [ NETWORK ] tab, and click [ REMOVE FROM NETWORK ] to stop it.
- Confirm that the relevant service is placed under [ RECENT ], and click it, and click the [ X ] icon at the top right of the screen.
-
Next, click the recycle bin icon.
- Select the service to which you want to connect from the device list again, and click the setting button placed next to the [ ADD TO NETWORK ] button.
- Enter the port number you want to specify for ”LOCAL PORT”, and click ✔. Next, click [ ADD TO NETWORK ] to start establishing a connection.
- Confirm that the specified port number has been reflected.
It is known that Method "A" fixes the connection destination port of the application used for connecting to the relevant service, and it is a setting that assumes operation such as specifying a port number on the administrator side in advance.
If you specify a port by following this method, for example, when a user who shares the service starts a connection, the port number specified by the owner will be set as default and the port will start listening the connection.
Also, this method does not affect connections that have been already created (those added to the [ NETWORK ] tab). Therefore, if a port number specified by the owner has already been added to the [ NETWORK ] tab before configuring the settings for "A", it will not be reflected.
In this case, perform Steps 1 ~ 3 to stop the existing connection, and then reconnect to remote.it.
